Mombasa Haller Park: Day trip to Mombasa with lunch. Visit of the Akamba woodcarving craft, Haller Park, visit of the market, old town, visit of Fort Jesus.

You will be picked from your hotel at around 8.00 am and drive to Mombasa city a1 hour drive across the Likoni ferry where our multi Lingual guide awaits for you.

Then visit the Akamba hand craft (where you will learn about the wood carvings and maybe buy a piece to take back home).

Akamba hand craft is one of the largest wood carvings industry and market in Kenya. There after, visit the Old Indian temple where you will learn about the arrival of Hinduism in Mombasa on your way back to the Mombasa town center.

You will also have the chance to see the elephant tusks along Moi Avenue built in 1952 in the memory of King George of England during the British colonial period, Visit Fort Jesus

Mombasa Haller Park: 

A city tour of Mombasa is not complete without a visit to the Fort Jesus located in ‘Mombasa Old Town’.  Fort Jesus (Forte Jesus de Mombasa) is a Portuguese fort built in 1591 by order of King Philip I of Portugal (King Philip II of Spain),

then ruler of the joint Portuguese and Spanish Kingdoms, located on Mombasa Island to guard the Old Port of Mombasa, Kenya.

It was built in the shape of a man (viewed from the air), and was given the name of Jesus. In 2011, the fort was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, highlighted as one of the most outstanding and well preserved examples of 16th-century Portuguese military fortifications.

You will also explore the old town where you will walk along the narrow streets and visit the old harbor where you will see the old Arabic boats and some of the oldest mosque found near the old harbor.

Proceed to the market built in colonial times where you will learn about the food spices, foods and vegetables the proceed for lunch at the Restaurant.

After lunch, visit the Haller park, a  private sanctuary, where you may feed the giraffes, see the crocodiles and hippos feeding. The Haller park landscape is attractive covered by casuarinas, bamboos and eucalyptus trees and is home to buffalos,

eland antelopes, giraffes, water bucks, oryx, snakes, crocodiles, hippos, tortoise and different types of birds’ species.

Haller Park is a nature park in Bamburi in Mombasa, on the Kenyan coast. It is the transformation of a quarry into an ecological area. Haller Park is home to a variety of plant and animal species that serve as recreational areas for tourists and locals.

Drive back to the Hotel at around 5pm
