5 Days Mikumi and Selous: Mikumi National Park near Morogoro, Tanzania, was established in 1964. It covers an area of 3,230 km2 is the fourth largest in the country. The park is crossed by Tanzania‘s A-7 highway. Mikumi National Park borders Selous Game Reserve on the south, the two areas forming a unique ecosystem. Two other natural areas bordering the national park are the Udzungwa Mountains and Uluguru Mountains.
Malundwe Mountain is within the park, the highest of a belt of hills that run east and west through the park, connecting the Uluguru Mountains to the northeast with the Uvidunda and Udzungwa mountains to the west. Malundwe Mountain consists of three peaks along a ridge running north and south. Malundwe’s south peak is the highest point in the park, reaching 1290 meters elevation.

You will be picked up in Dar es Salaam, then driven to Selous Game Reserve, which takes approximately five to six hours with lunch on the way. Upon arrival, check in at Selous Hippo Camp. In the evening go for an evening boat safari through the Rufiji River and enjoy an amazing reserve’s sunset. Back to the lodge late evening for dinner and overnight at Selous Hippo Camp
You will have an early breakfast at 7:00 a.m. then proceed for a full-day game drive in a specially modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. You will see and learn much about a large number of animals, including all the great favorites, lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and all the other major species including the rare African hunting dog. Early morning breakfast then game drive on route as you drive from southern gate of Selous to northen gate, its a long drive to Mikumi but very beautiful as you drive through the Uruguru mountains, sceneries and villagers along the way make it more beautiful, arrive in Mikumi in evening for dinner and overnight at Mikumi Bandas.
You will have an early breakfast then proceed see the park rich in variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephants. If you are lucky you may also be able to spot lions, leopards and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland and antelope. Dinner and Overnight at Mikumi Bandas.
After breakfast, short game drive in the park, and then drive back to Dar es Salaam with lunch on route, arriving late in the afternoon then drop off to your Hotel or Airport.
