Karibu Kenya Safaris: Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian, Nelion and Point Lenana. Climbing to 5,199 meters, Mount Kenya is the second tallest mountain in Africa. The scenery surrounding this designated World Heritage Site is breath-taking. It is pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forest, mineral springs and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game and unique montane and alpine vegetation. Visitors can enjoy mountain climbing, camping and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop.
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Arrive Nairobi airport, met and Transferred to Hilton Nairobi Hotel for an overnight on bed and breakfast.
After breakfast depart northwards to Mountain Lodge, situated at the base of Mount Kenya National Park. This is a Tree lodge which Mount Kenya region is famous for, and is uniquely Kenyan concept. The lodge has specially constructed viewing bunkers where you can spot game any time of the day. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon take a guided forest walk before returning for game viewing from a spacious verandah overlooking the waterhole, You will see elephants coming to feed near the lodge, only meters away from you. Dinner and overnight at Serena Mountain Lodge.
Day 3:Mount Kenya – Samburu Distance: 200 km
After breakfast, drive to Samburu National Reserve arriving in time for lunch. After lunch you may choose to have an afternoon game drive or relax by the poolside.
Game viewing in Samburu National Reserve with your skilled guide is provided from 4pm running until 6.30pm. A place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, . Dinner and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp or Samburu Serena lodge
Day 4: Samburu Game Reserve
Full day in Samburu with private guide and game viewing in safari van with pop-up roof or jeep. 2 game drives are provided, morning and afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp or Samburu Serena lodge
Drive to Sweetwater’s, a 24,000-acre private game reserve with magnificent views across the plains to the twin snow capped peaks of Mt. Kenya.
Activities are game viewing, a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and to see Morani, the tame rhino. Dinner and overnight Sweetwater’s Camp
Day 6: Great Rift Valley
Drive to Lake Naivasha for lunch and a sunset boat trip to The Crescent Island for a walk amongst wild animals, no carnivores here. Dinner and overnight Lake Naivasha Kongoni Lodge.
Day 7: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara
After early breakfast depart for Nairobi Wilson Airport and fly to the Masai Mara game reserve. Arrive in time for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight Mara Intrepids Camp or Fairmont Mara Safari Club
Day 8: Masai Mara – Karibu Kenya Safaris
Morning and afternoon game drive. Sunrise and sundown are the greatest moments for game viewing in these mystic plains, a time where the soft red hues of the sun will give your photographs the clarity of the actual African savannah. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti Tanzania in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
Depart After breakfast, return flight back to Nairobi for lunch at the hotel. Afternoon spent at leisure or transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to Mombasa for a beach holiday.
