chale island . Chale Island is a headland rather than an island, located at the northern end of Msambweni Bay in Kwale County in southeastern Kenya. The Island is known as a sacred forest “kaya” Narrow scenic headland with a white sandy beach, surrounded by indigenous forest with nice views.

You will be picked from your hotel in south coast at 0900hrs and from North coast will be at 0730hrs and drive along Diani Beach road to Chale Mainland. On arrival you will be transfered to the island by speed boat if tides are high and or by special built tractor with seats if tides are low.

With the ideal geographical location of Chale Island a huge variety of boat excursions are offered daily. Twelve kilometers to the North of the Island lies Diani Beach (ranked as the fifth best beach in the world). Two kilometers to the West of the Island is a local fishing village “Gazi” is bordered by mangrove swamps to one side and a coconut plantation to the other.

Excursions to Gazi allow one a glimpse of traditional Kenyan life, an inspection of the mangroves either on the women’s community boardwalk or by Kayak, or a stunning sunset trip in the bay. Lunch at the island restaurant. After a day in chale Island you will be transfered to your hotel after a 4 oclock tea/cofee.
